• welcome to thrubike.net!

We're Bryan and Debra Waters and we are migrating south on our Surly Long Haul Truckers! 2 years ago we sold our stuff, resigned from our jobs, and got on our bicycles in Vermont and headed south to Mexico. We biked for 10 months from September 2009-June 2010 pedaling over 4,500 miles. Now we're out for another adventure with the USA. We began on October 8, 2011. Our route is fluid and there is no end date, check the About page for a map of our general path.

About

We’re Bryan and Debra Waters.  We like to ride our touring bicycles, taking the open road in for all it has to offer.  We strive for simplicity and having a low impact on this beautiful earth.  From September 2009 to June of 2010 we rode 4,500 miles from Vermont to Mexico.   We are now pedaling again, beginning from Saratoga Springs, NY we are migrating south for the winter.  We are hoping to be in the Pacific Northwest by summer of 2012. This blog serves as a link to our friends and family and a reference for those we meet along the way.  We’ll share the roads we take, the sights, and anything else that comes to mind.

Here is a basic projection of our route.  It is fluid and certainly subject to change!  We are not purists, we may take a bus, train, or ride at some point along the way if it makes sense.
